Program objectives

The purpose of this course is to obtain preparation and review tutoring for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technician Certification exams, with international recognition.

Program Description

Diagnostic medical sonography is definitely a growing field. They are prepared to take their medical ultrasound certification the right way. The knowledge you gain through this course along with your determination to prepare will help you improve your professionalism. It is an excellent tool for preparing for your Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) exam if you plan to take it through the ARDMS and/or APCA.

  • Apply the basic concepts of care and comfort and mental health to the patient’s nursing care plan.
  • Evaluate the different physiological alterations of the person’s well-being and intervene according to their needs.
  • Identify the components for patient care management.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Safety and Infection Control concepts.
  • Interpret pharmacology concepts and intravenous therapy skills.
  • Prioritize the nursing care plan by monitoring health problems.
  • Identify physiological health problems based on initial assessment and data collection.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of information technology applications in healthcare
  • Demonstrate and differentiate nursing priorities based on nursing domains.
    Identify and explain the difference between safety issues and physiological integrity.
  • Identify key terms associated with nursing domains that apply to nursing care plan interventions and execution.

Students participate in a laboratory while taking the specialty course where they will learn the protocols related to the specialty they have chosen. Participants with experience in sonography will be guided to obtain a clinical verification form; trainees with no experience in the area of sonography will be protocolized and with the training received will be eligible to take their specialization exam.

Expected results:

  • Prepare according to the requirements of the SPI Test.
    1. Basic principles of ultrasound physics
    2. Interaction of sound with the environment
    3. Range equation
    4. Sound beam anatomy and resolutions
    5. Transducers
    6. Instrumentation and image optimization
    7. Hemodynamics
    8. Doppler
    9. Artifacts / Quality Assurance / Bioeffects
    10. Questionnaires that evaluate the following topics: basic principles, interaction of sound with the medium, resolutions, transducers, instrumentation, hemodynamics, doppler, artifacts, quality
      control and bioeffects.
  • Train the participant to know the essential basis of the exam that is based on criteria-referenced knowledge that compares knowledge to a predetermined standard

Requirements:

  •  Must be an international graduate
    Medical Doctor
  • Academic equivalence in the US
  • Personal Identification (Passport, ID, Driver’s License)

Completion:
As a requirement for a proper preparation, students will demonstrate their skills through exams throughout the course

  • Pre-Test, Mid-Term and Post Test where they must obtain 80% or more
  • Average of 80% in the Review.
  • Mandatory attendance.
