Preparation and Review Course “NBDHE” (Step 1)

The purpose of this course is to obtain tutoring for the Preparation and Review for the National Board “NBDHE” exam and thus opt to obtain their licenses as a Dental Hygienist “RDH” for its acronym in English in the state of Florida (Step 1 ).

A Dental Hygienist is defined as an oral health professional responsible for treating and preventing periodontal diseases. They do much of their work independently, under the supervision of a dentist. They are an important part of teams led by dentists, as it relieves them of a considerable workload and thus only the dentist is in charge of more advanced procedures.

Job Responsibilities and Duties of Dental Hygienists

You as a state-licensed dental health professional may have different responsibilities and duties to the American Dental Association (ADA), including:

  • Scaling or Dental Cleanings. Scaling and root planning. Placement of intra-oral antibiotics.
  • Application of preventive materials to the teeth (fluorides and sealants).
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies and good nutrition.
  • Make impressions for studio casts.
  • Patient screenings, including oral health evaluations, oral health history review, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspections, and taking vital signs.
  • Realization of documentation and office management.
  • Removal of calculus and dental plaque from the teeth.
  • Taking and development of dental radiographs.

In addition to the job functions listed above, state requirements may allow these dental professionals to perform duties under the direct or general supervision of a licensed dentist.

These licensed dental professionals may also perform the following under the direct supervision of a dentist:

  • Local anesthesia (prior Approval of additional course)
  • Administration of nitrous oxide. (Previous Approval of additional course)
  • Placement and removal of periodontal dressings.
  • Placement and removal of sutures.
  • Soft tissue curettage

The “Florida Board of Dentistry” is the government entity in charge of issuing these licenses. To qualify for these, the Board requires certain requirements such as: you must be a graduate of a Dental Hygiene (stomatology) program accredited by the ADA or approved by the US Department of Education, “OR Graduates of a Non-Accredited Program, But With 4 years of post-secondary dental education AND have received a diploma from a dental school that is comparable to a DDS or DMD.”

In addition, you must pass both the National Board NBDHE (Step1) and state exams. All this information will be explained step by step in our administrative tutorial program.

Our (Step1) is designed and focused on providing you with all the necessary information for the evaluation of your credentials and preparation to take the “NBDHE” exam.

Requirements:

University Degree in Dentistry obtained in your country of origin and transcript, we will guide you through the translation process, which must subsequently be evaluated by the agency recognized by the Florida Board of Dentistry.
